Marti Jeffers is an Atlanta based photographer whose love of photography spans more than 25 years. Starting out with a Yashica Mat 124G twin lens reflex camera in 1971, Marti now shoots in the Canon digital world with the Canon 5D Mark II. A good day of shooting has Marti focused and involved in her subjects, “finding beauty in the ordinary and seeing in a new way”, whether it’s photographing nature, urban scenes, portraits, or events.
In 2006, after leaving a long and successful career as a software engineer, her interest in photographing people led her to create Marti Jeffers Photography, Inc., specializing in portrait and fine art photography. In 2007, Marti began to work in the education side of photography, continuing a passion for teaching that was also a part of her work in the software industry.
From 2007 through 2010 she assisted in photography workshops with Craig Tanner and with Radiant Vista and later with The Mindful Eye. These workshops included a wide range of National Park locations, such as Big Bend, Grand Tetons, Death Valley, and Zion, as well as the beautiful coastal Georgia locations of Jekyll Island and Savannah. During this time Marti also designed and taught the Foundations in Photography for Women workshops.
In addition to teaching, Marti also served as the workshop coordinator for The Mindful Eye from the beginning of 2008 through the end of 2010, planning and administering the workshop program.
Beginning in 2011, Marti returns to the role of full time photographer, developing and teaching more of her own workshops and taking time to shoot more for herself and her teaching.
As part of her involvement in her community, Marti has done featured programs at several area photo clubs. Marti has done presentations to Girl Scouts working on their photography badges and has served as a volunteer photographer for the Gift for a Child/Georgia Heart Gallery.
Marti has had the good fortune to travel to and photograph many scenic areas in the country. Her fine art prints are shown in various venues in the Atlanta area and are collected in the Southeast.
Marti has studied at the Southeastern Center for the Arts, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, The Showcase School of Photography, Rocky Mountain School of Photography, and with photographers Craig Tanner, Elizabeth Stone, Larry Winslett, and Mark Johnson. Marti continues to study and refine her photography with workshops every year.
She is a current member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), and is a member of several Atlanta area photography groups, including Roswell Photographic Society, Southeastern Photographic Society, and Georgia Nature Photographers Association.
